Junior Topology: Teichmuller space, the mapping class group, and the curve complex by Sam Taylor (University of Texas at Austin) in RLM 12.166
This talk will serve as an introduction to the objects of study in surfaces topology. In particular we will introduce Teichmuller space, the mapping class group, and the curve complex and focus on the interactions among them. As an example of this interaction, we will define convex cocompact subgroups of the mapping class group and explain their significance. Submitted by
