  • Hausel -- Whitehead Prize for 2008
    Prof. Tamas Hausel has just been recognized by receiving a Whitehead Prize for 2008. The citation reads "for his investigations into hyperko?=o?=hler geometry which have led him to prove deep results in fields as diverse as the representation theory of quivers, mirror symmetry and Yang-Mills instantons."
  • Dr J. Rath has been chosen as the AMS Congressional Fellow for 08-09
    The American Mathematical Society (AMS) has chosen James Rath as the AMS Congressional Fellow for 2008-09. This Fellowship program is administered by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). It provides a unique public policy learning experience, to demonstrate the value of science-government interaction, and to bring a technical background and external perspective to the decision-making process in Congress.
  • Spring 08 Awards
    Graduating Ph.D students R. Alonso, M. Czubak, A. Kahle, M. Luxton and A. Young won this years Frank Gerth III dissertation Awards. Graduating Math undergraduates A. Ahmed, N. Ehrmann, Pui Man Ho and A. Leroux have been awarded 2008 Williams Scholars. D. Radin won CNS teaching excellence award and M. Zou won CNS staff excellence award.
  • Pavlovic has been awarded a Sloan Fellowship
    Professor Natasa Pavlovic has been awarded a 2008 Sloan Fellowship. Natasa has joined our department from Princeton in fall 2007. She received her Ph. D. from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2002. Her research areas includes PDE and Harmonic Analysis.
  • James Vick Receives the Nowotny Medal
    Professor James W. Vick of Mathematics and Sharon H. Justice of Department of Educational Administration have been awarded the Arno Nowotny Medal. Dr. Vick and the recipients of the Presidential Citation, Civitatis Award,the President’s Associates and Chancellor’s Council Teaching Awards have been honored at the University award dinner on Jan. 23.
