The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical
Competition is given once each year (usually the first Saturday in December). It
is given at universities across the U.S. and Canada to undergraduates - a student may take
this exam at most 4 times. There are many web pages devoted to information about the exam (a search
on Yahoo turned up over 400 such pages.) Copies of recent exams in various
formats (and solutions) can be found at http://www.unl.edu/amc/
