A surprising prediction of the geometric Langlands conjecture - formulated by Ben-Zvi and Nadler - is that the category of automorphic sheaves with nilpotent singular support is independent of the complex structure of the underlying curve. In this talk, we give a gentle introduction to the main objects appearing in the Betti geometric Langlands correspondence and then present (the idea behind) a proof of the Ben-Zvi-Nadler conjecture not relying on the geometric Langlands conjecture.
