Cobordism Hypothesis II: Putting the "Hype" in "Hypothesis"
Description
Ordinary TQFTs give us invariants of oriented n-manifolds which can be computed by decomposing manifolds into bordisms. We introduce the notion of a fully extended TQFT, which permits invariants of an n-manifold to be calculated through a much broader class of decompositions. We state the cobordism hypothesis and discuss this powerful link between differential topology and higher category theory.
