Junior Geometry and QFT Seminar

Vertex algebras possessing certain symmetries naturally give rise to chiral algebras over arbitrary smooth curves. This phenomenon is particularly remarkable, as the definition of vertex algebras appears purely algebraic and makes no explicit reference to curves. In this talk, we will first review the definition of vertex algebras and then describe in detail how chiral algebras are constructed from them.
