AGMS Seminar: Ekholm/Shende's skein-valued Open-Gromov-Witten invariants

Description

kholm and Shende in 2019 suggested an answer to the long-standing puzzle of how to define Gromov-Witten invariants counting possibly disconnected curves of all genera with boundary on a fixed Lagrangian L. Their invariant takes values in the skein module Sk(L) of L, and it gives a mathematically rigorous explanation of the topological vertex via mirror symmetry. The definition now appears to be complete with a technical paper from last year.

In the talk I'll sketch the basic idea of their definition and the key technical subtleties they had to overcome.
