Topology Seminar

In this talk we will discuss ideas in the proof of the following result. There exist finitely presented, residually finite groups that are profinitely rigid in the class of all finitely presented groups but not in the class of all finitely generated groups. These groups are of the form G x G where G is a profinitely rigid 3-manifold group (which can be taken to be the fundamental group of a certain kind of Seifert fibred space).
